technical services and network security, ken silva oversees network security
and production IT services for the veriSign global registry services division.
in this role, he helps maintain the definitive database of over 24 million
web addresses in .com, .net and .org on a powerful platform that is the
world's de facto standard in domain name system (dns) registry services.
responding to over 6.5 billion dns look-ups daily, the platform includes
the infrastructure for 13 globally deployed gtld servers answering dns
requests for all .com, .net, and .org domains and the root a server, the
internet's "dot" and most heavily used domain name server.
mr. silva
serves on the board of directors for the Information Technology, Information
Sharing and Analysis Center (IT-ISAC). he also advises and participates
in a number of national and international committees, including the National
Infrastructure Protection Center (NIPC), White House ISP Security Panel,
the ICANN DNS Security Panel, NRIC, and the NSTAC.
mr. silva
joined verisign with more than 20 years experience in the telecommunications
and security industry. He came from the National Security Agency where
served 10 years most recently as executive technical director. mr. silva
has served in various other leadership positions, taught courses at the
national cryptologic school, and served 10 years in the United States Air
Force.
